The Leatherwood Mountain Trails - Ferguson, NC

“And into the forest I go, to lose my mind and to find my soul.” - John Muir

Not until we are lost do we begin to find ourselves.” - Henri David Thoreau

The Story -

On Saturday morning, Ginger, Sophie, and I joined Natalie for a moderate five-mile hike in the woods at the Leatherwood Mountain Resort, a private luxury resort nestled among the lush Blue Ridge Mountains near Wilkesboro, NC. The resort is home to over seventy-five miles of trails, offering stunning views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and peaceful paths next to numerous creeks and streams. And due to the exclusivity of the resort and trails, we felt almost alone, only sharing the trail with an occasional horse or two. If you are looking to escape the crowds or for a relaxed environmental getaway, the Leatherwood Mountain Resort is for you.

All smiles at the beginning of our hike. Two trailheads, the Golden Eagle and the Rainbow Trails were immediately in front of our cabin.

Hazardous Rainbow Trail. Should you be smiling?

Bear activity in the area. Fortunately we did not see any.

Closed for horses. Not people right?

What happened to the trail? Still smiling.

Natalie and her mom enjoyed an afternoon horseback riding. Most if not all of the trails at the Leatherwood Mountain Resort are bridal trails.
